Our Staff

Come in to get to know myself, Cailyn, Michelle and Courtney! We are always welcoming parents to visit and see what our day-to-day activities are like!

My name is Karen Tempesta.  I am  a licensed provider and the owner of Rainbow Family Daycare, Inc.

I have been running the Swampscott family daycare since 1981. I have had the pleasure of watching so many children come through my program and are now having the privledge of caring for their children as well! There is no better feeling, then knowing that a parent trusts you with their most precious possession and be able to live up to that trust.

I graduated from Salem State College in 1978 with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. Four years later I received my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education, with additional courses in special education, from the same acredited school.

I hold the maximum amount of teaching certificates through the state Office of Early Education and Care, up to

Director II.

Previous to opening Rainbow, I taught in the Salem Public School system for three years.

Back in 1981, Rainbow was my five year plan, but as the years went on, I realized that this was where I was meant to be. So many children have touched my life and so many parents have become my dearest friends. I have been blessed in

so many ways.

                Cailyn Fitzgerald

My name is Cailyn. I started at Rainbow as an intern and loved being here. When asked if I would like to become an assistant, I jumped at the chance.

I now have my assistants license through the state office of Early Education and Care.

I am  a student at Northshore Community

College. Upon completion of my associates degree, I plan to transfer over to Salem State University to pursue my bachelors degree in early childhood education.

I feel I have the best of both worlds: to be able to be immersed in an educational setting with young children, while being able to obtain a degree in education.

Rainbow is a fun place to work. The small groups of children make it easy to get to know each ones individual needs and be able to personalize the teaching strategy to those needs. The best part is, I am learning as much from them, as they are from me!

I look forward each day to seeing the childrens smiling faces and hearing their voices yell "Cailyn" when I walk in the door each morning. It is a great way to start the day.

Courtney Perry

My name is Courtney. I have been an assistant at Rainbow for two years now and it feels like it's my second home!

I have my assistants license through the state Office of Early Education and Care.

I had been a nanny for four years, but as the children grew older, my services were no longer needed. Since I wanted to remain caring for young children, I was thrilled when a position opened at Rainbow.

The atmosphere at Rainbow is one of warmth and acceptance, which made it very easy to join the team. Learning, for both the children and I, is a fun experience, which we all enjoy to the fullest.

I am looking forward to my future at Rainbow, for it is always nice to be surrounded by such

enthusiasm and curiosity of young children.

Truly a breathe of fresh air!

Michelle LaMacchia

My name is Michelle. I have recently had the pleasure of joining the Rainbow team.

I have my approved assistants license through the state office of Early Education and Care.

I am a mother of two children, my youngest attended Rainbow for two years, which is how I came to meet Karen. I teach dance to children at a local dance studio and worked as a temporary assistant in a daycare last year. When I learned that there was an opening at Rainbow I was excited at the chance to become part of the Rainbow staff.

I have been truly enjoying my time here. I have gained so much experience in such a short time. The children are amazing little people! Working with the different age groups has been intriguing and exhilarating. Each are unique and teaching to that uniqueness has helped expand my knowledge.

I consider myself a lucky person, for you can't ask for a better beginning to your day, then starting it at Rainbow!
